The SMS functionality within Mercury is run by a third party. This particular provider has a 160 character limit, however a 160 character limit is standard for SMS.

We are in the early stages of researching new providers. We'll take into consideration your request when doing our research.

I would love to see SMS templates integrated - we will be essentially sending similar messages to clients and templates would be very useful.
